How does it do that?!?

Why and how does running make me feel so happy? No matter how foul a mood I’m in, if I go out for a run I come back a completely different person. It’s like I go from this:


To this (in 30 minutes or less):
rainbows and bunnies

HOW IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE?! It’s got to be all thanks to our dear friends, Endorphins. What on earth would I do without Endorphins? I just love this excerpt from an article I found on, it sums up everything we need to know about the feel good effect of endorphins:

“When we run, serotonin levels in the body are increased in our brains, and the effect is a more positive mood. This chemical in the brain gives you a satisfied feeling, similar to being happy after a family gathering, or an accomplishment. While running, levels of epinephrine in our brain, the “stress chemical” are also lowered. This means we feel less rushed, and more relaxed after a low intensity long run.”

So there you have it folks. Don’t get caught looking like this all day:

Just go for a run, or a swim, or a bike ride, or a Pilates class, or do some yoga, or a crazy Insanity video, something…anything… we all need to release those Endorphins and let them fly around in our brain as long as they can

Exercise yourself right back to your happy place….

Because everyone can use a little more rainbows and bunny rabbits in their life. Probably some unicorns too.
