Turning a corner

I do believe last Saturday’s long run was a turning point for a few of us Mamas. Running the 7-9 mile range changed everything- it’s like the inner running lioness has come out and we are on the hunt now. Wildly focused, we see the prey and are ready for half marathon kill. It doesn’t hurt that one of our most motivational Mamas is running her first full marathon tomorrow in Philadelphia and we are all beyond excited for her. You can feel the buzz, the intensity is palpable. The air vibrates around us when we talk about the possibilities, when we talk about cheering each other on.

So, if anyone else is on the prowl for a longer race, here’s a list of the ones we are looking at. We aren’t all doing the same ones, so feel free to contact us if you see one you are interested in. The more the merrier!

March 14-16, 2014 – Anthem Half Marathon as a part of the Shamrock Marathon in Virginia Beach. If you need to get away for some surf and sand time around St. Patty’s Day, then this is the place you!

April 27, 2014 – Nike Women’s Half Marathon in Washington DC. This race has a lottery entry, so there’s no guarantee that any of us will be running this race. That said, we started a group entry so if one gets chosen the whole group can run. Leave a comment or contact us if you want details on the group name and password.

April 27, 2014 – Iron Girl Half Marathon in Columbia, Maryland. This race will be considered if we are not chosen to run in the Nike Half. This race looks amazing, has received excellent reviews, and is the first event in the Iron Girl Triple Crown Series. The second 2 events are sprint triathlons in Maryland (one in August and one in September = warm water for the swim- YAY!).

September 27, 2014 – Hands on House Half Marathon in Lancaster, PA. Because a few of us did this 10K race his year, we have a comfortable understanding of the course. If you don’t mind rolling hills and beautiful scenic farmlands on a Saturday morning, then this race is for you! It was fantastic and it’s lovely to run in September.

The ultimate goal is to get to the Disney Princess Half Marathon in January of 2015 for a healthy dose of sunshine and magic.

What trail of awesomeness will you blaze in 2014? Be inspired!
