Our First Care Package

Ever since we returned from our trip we’ve been focused on bringing the magic and spreading joy.  Mama D and I decided that our first project should be to support the Boyertown Junior High West Road Warriors after school running club.  About 65 runners strong, this group of students can be found around town pounding the pavement together. We were inspired by their commitment and  perseverance so we decided that we should make them a little care package for their 5K next weekend.  We call them Sole-dier Survival Kits and it includes one Nuun tablet to try in their water for hydration, one Quench gum, an inspirational quote, and a yellow ribbon that they can tie in their hair or around their arm so they can find each other on the course.  For many of these youngsters, this will be their first race event.  We’re so excited to be their cheerleaders!

  1. I promise to keep this a surprise from my Jr. High West Road Warrior. I am so proud of these kids!!! 14 years ago I would have never believed it if someone told me that my baby born with Spina Bifida would one day be pounding the pavement in his racing handcycle. He also taught this momma to throw her limitations out the window and take up running 6 months ago. I am proud to say I feel great, look great and am accomplishing my personal running goals.

    2. And another thing, Meghan, thank you for sharing that you threw your expectations out the window. It’s something that can be the hardest thing to do. Congratulations for being one strong Mama!
